I just got done watching my Blu-ray of Jugface, which I won nearly a year ago at my quarterly horror trivia night, and in "making of" doc in the special features I found out that the director won the horror screenplay competition at Slamdance.
Apparently, there is a whole competition just for horror screenplays.
Think I'm going to submit next year.
Sure, there's a late deadline for 2017 (July 25th), but the fee is $70 instead of the "early deadline" fee of $25 (and I'm on a tight budget over the summer) and I'm pretty sure by now (as submissions have been open since late February) that they have decided on the winner.
I'll submit early next year.
But, man, I really need to start using my WithoutaBox account more.
I logged onto there (and thankfully all my log-in stuff was still the same) and I had projects created for Invoking Henry (a script I still have to re-read and heavily edit and re-write), Flatdog (which is now on its 3rd draft) and Petcare (a short-ish horror script that I intended for a cable horror series... like a Masters of Horror deal). So I deleted all those projects and just put Personal Demons on there. Think I'll also update it to include the new draft of Flatdog and Pillow Queen.
Anyhow, I just love how watching a Blu-ray I've had on my entertainment center for nearly a year has yielded a new opportunity.
