Screamfest coverage of DWELLER

Well, I submitted my scripts Dweller (not my best script, but a decent, thought-provoking little creature-feature) and Humansville (my own adaptation of my first novel) to Screamfest.

Both were rejected.

However, they did provide feedback on both scripts (apparently I requested it).

Format: Excellent
Grammar: Good
Characters: Very Good
Plot/Story: Good
Pacing: Very Good
Grab in First 20:Very Good
Dialogue: Good

This story moves. From the very beginning, the creature becomes a very real threat, and it doesn't waste any time eating whole buildings of people. The way it infects people is not new, but it is visually cool. It cuts the human host and slathers a viscous fluid in the wound, which spawns hundreds of babies that burst out. The author also takes time to layer in a little character. Detective Henson likes to read classic literature and he has been nursing a cold, which becomes a plot point later in the film. This is basically a good old-fashioned urban monster movie, like ALLIGATOR, but in a post-ALIEN setting, where the science matters. It is a fun read, the only reservation, is the writing. It can be clunky at times, but overall it is a fun enough read to look past some of these mistakes.
