So... FadeIn's Hollywood Pitchfest has been moved to September 29th - October 2nd.
I've got a few thoughts about this...
1.) Pushing it back about two months will help me prepare. However...
2.) This date is during the school year. Not sure how much time I will have to prepare.
Though I've pitched Personal Demons so many times really all I have to do is brush up and re-memorize my pitch, selling points, etc.Muscles & Wine is an entirely different story. I have to synthesize a pitch for this and then memorize it. Shouldn't be too hard, as this story is autobiographical and close to my heart, so...
3.) On the same note of this putting Pitchfest during the school year, if any of my pitches fall on September 29th (Friday) or October 2nd (Monday) then I will have to take off school for this. Not convenient. But, as is on-brand for FadeIn, they don't care and will not make amends to any writer to whom this is an obstacle.
4.) I was really looking forward to getting Pitchfest out of the way at the end of summer. Furthermore, Pitchfest was originally going to be just before my second trip to NY this year. I was very much looking forward to pitching, riding the positive wave of all the requests for my work (note my confidence) and thoroughly enjoying NY. Looks like those plans are to be changed.
On the brighter side:
5.) I am perhaps my happiest in mid-to-late September and October. It is indeed Spooky Season and hopefully my positive energy during this season will inspire the VIPs to whom I pitch.
6.) On that same note, as it is Spooky Season, hopefully agents and producers will be looking for a horror script... 'tis the season.
7.) There is not a Saw or Conjuring universe (Annabelle, etc.) or a Blumhouse Halloween movie coming out this year... Personal Demons could very well be just the thing for agents and producers looking for a new franchise for which they could release a new entry each Halloween season.
That is my hope anyhow...
