new material...

... I am now preparing to write some new material.
I just finished a retrospective I began in March about a beloved author (whose work I've enjoyed since I was 14) who passed back in spring, James Herbert.
See, I write little personal histories of artists whose works I appreciate when they pass away, reach a milestone (or turning point) in their career, they retire or when their career simply ceases to be.
Next I'll be finishing my little narrative (and explanation) of how the story and characters of Pillow Queen came to be.
If it sells (and I am confident that it will) then I have a feeling I'll be telling and re-telling this story over and over again... best to have a prepared spiel and a written story for submission to any e-mailed or print interviews (note my overweening and preemptive certainty here).

But the real joy is when I begin cranking out new works...

I have a slew of short stories (some of which I conceived of years ago, one of which appeared in my imagination at the beginning of June) that I intend to write over the course of this next week.

I also need to finish a screenplay that I began in summer of 2011 (the sequel to one of my most beloved scripts).

And, finally, I intend to begin submission of my newly revamped (and perfected) query to a slew of script agents tomorrow.

Now, I sit, waiting for my hanging T-shirts to dry,

as I sip some California red wine and prepare to put on my armor (a series of shirt I had made, featuring my favorite authors, which I wear when I write... both for inspiration and protection against bad writing... one of them is featured below).

Here I go...

Straight into the abyss...
