Shriekfest... Done

Just got the e-mail (below): I did not make it to the finalists in Shriekfest with Personal Demons. 
Ah well. 
I can (and will) still put it on my writer’s résumé and will put it in my future queries letters that I made it at least to the semi-finalists. But I’ll have to submit my queries soon, before the afterglow of Shriekfest wears off. 
Also, I’ve done some good re-writing on Personal Demons since I submitted it to Shriekfest (I submitted it in February 2016 and did rewrites in May 2016). I think I could submit it next year and perhaps go further (or even win). 
But in the meantime I’ll submit it like crazy and ride the wave of (potential) hype or interest involved in making it to the semi-finalists.

"Erik,

I'm so sorry to be sending this email. I know this is not the email you were hoping for.  Your screenplay did not make it to finalist status in  the 2016 Shriekfest Screenplay competition. We would like to thank you for submitting your script to this years festival. This is very well written, maybe just a little fleshing out.  :)

Sending these emails is the most difficult part of our job because we know how much time, effort, and dedication goes into writing your screenplay.

If you keep in touch with us, we will do our best to send you referrals.

As a Shriekfest entrant, you are entitled to 1 free festival pass. This pass gives you access to all of the films screened at the festival.
