HPF 27 UPDATE
Dear *[FNAME]*, Thank you for your continued patience.
Drama. Comedy. Suspense. Hollywood’s
Summer Strikes of 2023 have them all. As the Dog Days of August stumble
to a close, we find ourselves teased by whispers of pending
reconciliation. Can it be true? Are the studios and the WGA truly ready
to kiss and make up? Industry odds-makers have the smart money on
September for an agreement to be announced. This could be the real deal,
or it could be just another psyops move designed to confuse the enemy. We’re
betting that the industry gurus have it right, that a post-Labor Day
agreement is likely. (After all, the broadcast networks are only going
to die off faster by programming The Real American Ninja Bachelors – LIVE! five nights a week.) Even so, ratifying any
agreement is going to take a minute. And then there’s the on-going LA
hotel workers strike, which continues to throw sand into the industry’s
economic gears. Believe us when we say, we are just as frustrated as you are.
So what happens if the WGA strike has more false endings than the The Lord of the Rings III, you ask?
Will the current date of September 29-October 2 need to be changed?
While we are all hoping for a timely resolution, we must reserve the
right to move the date a second time to ensure the inclusion of
signatory companies (e.g., studios, streamers, agencies). The HPF event
just wouldn’t be the same without them. And
what happens if the event date is moved again once the WGA strike has
ended but the hotel strike hasn't been resolved? HPF 27 could
possibly go 100% virtual (i.e., all meetings via Skype video or Zoom).
This is just a head's up. No final decisions have been made. Again, as both the hotel and WGA strikes are force-majeure (i.e.,
events beyond our control), per our Terms of Use you agreed to when
registering, there are no refunds for tickets/meetings. The event has
been postponed, not canceled. You can, however, move your entire
registration to July 2024, if you want, by simply dropping us an email.
In the event HPF 27 turns 100% virtual, unused hotel rooms will be
credited for those choosing to participate virtually. If meetings remain
in-person and you are concerned about incurring airfare change fees
(again), several credit card companies offer travel insurance in the
form of trip interruption and trip cancellation insurance and
most airlines will waive change fees if due to a force majeure event(s). If you've yet to purchase your airline ticket, you may want to wait or purchase one that is changeable. We will send more updates as they become available. If we did not address your concerns, please feel free to mail us at fadeinmagazine@gmail.comIn the meantime, let’s keep our fingers (and toes) crossed and hope that cool heads prevail expeditiously.
