... And I just submitted Flatdog to the Blood List's "Fresh Blood" competition
Here is what I wrote in the optional notes to my reader:
"I wrote this screenplay in spring of 2008, as an allegory for (and reaction to) Hurricane Katrina, which was still fresh in my mind at the time (as I have friends in New Orleans). I have been revising this script ever since.
Really, it is my love letter to both the 80's and 90's horror films I grew up on, and horror films rife with sociopolitical subtext that I live for (the films of George Romero, specifically).
It combines my two of my favorite horror subgenres: nature gone awry (JAWS, ANACONDA, etc.) and serial killer revenge from beyond the grave (NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, THE FIRST POWER)."
I wrote more, but the deleted part reveals the plot and you all know how guarded I am about my plots and stories.
