First act... DONE!

Well, I'm done with the first act of my new script (the teen horror film).

The first thirty pages is in the bank!

And everything is in its place (according to those pesky rules of screen storytelling).

The "inciting incident" is on page 15-17 (half-way through the first act) and the first "Plot Point" is on page 30, at the end of the second act.

I will indeed finish this script by the end of my summer break... And that will feel better than I can put into words.

I haven't written a script from start-to-finish since 2013.

And, I have to say again, writing this one with the acts and all the required plot devices (inciting incident, first culmination, reversal, climax, denouement, etc.) actually does make it easier to write. I like having structure... But, then I also liked just writing what I thought was cool before. And I'm still doing that now, I just have a framework to follow.

At any rate, tomorrow I begin on Act II.

I swear, though, I am so in love with these characters I actually can't wait to get back to my laptop and push their journey a little further.

And I've had these scenes written in my head for so long that I can't wait to realize them on the page.

This is why I write. And this is why I continue writing even when no one publishes my books or produces my screenplays and why I will keep writing even if no one bothers to recognize the potential (or the greatness, if any) in my work.
