publication...

William S. Burroughs once said (either in the documentary Commissioner of Sewers or in the making-of featurette Naked Making Lunch) that publication and audience is increasingly important to a writer and that, had he not managed to have Junky published when he was 39, that he might not have continued writing.

I say this because I am about to submit a slew of queries to literary agents... And because I have just downloaded a slew of rare Mp3 recordings of speeches, lecture, dissertations and readings by Burroughs, most of them on the craft and art of writing.
Incidentally, one of these readings is by William S. Burroughs Jr. and Sr. and Billy Jr. is reading from his unpublished book Prakriti Junction!!!
Dream. Come. True!

At any rate, after I finish submitting, I plan to clean off my handheld Sony digital recorder (where I record story ideas, rants, dreams, mental notes, etc.).

This is the first time this entire summer where I feel remotely motivated... Hopefully I will make good use of it.
