It was from Criterion (who I always confuse with the DVD company).
Said they "weren't looking"... which probably just means "uninterested".
I've found that agencies are typically looking for new clients unless: a.) they already have a roster which consists of a handful of super-successful (and therefore high maintenance) clients, b.) they have a huge roster full of minor celebrities and need all the time they can muster to cater to each one of them or c.) they are allergic to money.
Ah, well.
I power on.
Know what keeps me going?
The fact that in 2009 (when I received my last bit of interest from Hollywood), I sent my last query to Culver City-based Circle of Confusion on April 14th. I received a reply (requesting that I send them the script) on August 11th. I finally received my rejection on January 29th, 2010.
Bottom line: you're on their time.
And "their time" typically proceeds like an old man taking a dump: slow and painful.
