Bloody Disgusting posted this news story not too long ago:
The Horror Business Is Booming: Walter Hamada Joins Paramount to Increase the Studio’s Horror Output
As a fan, this news excites me greatly.
After all, what fan is not ecstatic over the news of brand new, original, content in the genre of their choice?
But as a writer I am less excited about this.
Now, I would be excited about this, but I’ve barely gotten my foot in the door to Hollywood, so I’m not sure I will be able to make use of this opportunity.
Sure, I’ve had brushes with success (things to brag about to other writers, less successful than me) but obviously nothing has panned out because here I sit: gazing forlornly at this news, wishing I could be one of the creators to conceive of content for Paramount’s new horror slate.
Perhaps one day.
It just creates an ache in me now that I am not able to take advantage of this opportunity, and that I will be merely a spectator and fan of this new content, and not one of its creators.
I’m not lusting for fame and fortune here.
I have no real need of either of those things.
Truthfully, I just want to share my stories with the world.
That’s all.
And yet, thus far, the gatekeepers have prevented that from happened.
Again, perhaps one day I will break through the gates.
We shall see.
