So... the dates for the Blood List's Fresh Blood 2022 are August 1st - 15th.
Personal Demons didn't make it last year.
This year I am debating which of my other scripts might make it.
I'm thinking Flatdog, but I also want to revise Cubs and Invoking Henry beforehand and see if I feel any of those will suffice.
Also, FadeIn Magazine is now asking people who put down a deposit on PitchFest to now pick their packages and pay their balances.
I'm a bit wary.
You'd think they could do everything via PayPal.
But no.
They do everything via credit card.
They are asking me to pick my package (I'm picking 5 pitches at $395).
They then say that they will refund my $100 deposit.
I guess I'm wary because, in 2018, when I won 1st place in their Horror Screenplay Competition, it took them until Thanksgiving (I won the contest in June) to get me my $500 prize money.
Now, I didn't appreciate the money wasn't as much as the prestige (and the fact that I could put this, my first real win, on my writer's résumé) and the opportunity (they were supposed to send my script's logline, I think maybe the script itself, and their notes to everyone in their extensive Hollywood elite rolodex... I don't think they did). But the money was welcome. Not only was I, at the time, at a job that hadn't given us a raise in over 10 years, but more money means more submission fees I have for more contests and film fests.
But I digress.
I am about to shell out $400 more dollars to FadeIn with hopes that they will make good on refunding my $100 deposit and that their Hollywood Pitchfest will be worth every cent and will offer great opportunity.
We shall see.
