Got my rejection from thgem on August 21st (after I submitted to them via Greenlight My Movie.com).
Here it is:
"Dear Erik Harshman,
Thank you for allowing us to review and consider your project "Personal
Demons".
Please find our response below.
Response: This is a pass for us, because; Needs a higher concept (missing
irony/wow factor…).
Comment: Unfortunately feels too familiar for the marketplace. .
Best Regards,
ARTILLERY CREATIVE"
Hmmmmmm.... See what I mean about how, sometimes, when agencies/producers reject your work it seems like personal digs?
They're basically trying to say (without having read the script, only having seen my impassioned video pitch) that my script is "not smart enough and too generic".
And they can get away with this, because (right now) I'm a nobody.
If I ever make it big, and Persona Demons gets made and makes three times its budget at the box office., they'll either slap their heads quietly in their offices and never admit publicly that I ever pitched to them, or someone at Artillery will get fired (if the company even exists at that point).
And further on the point of "too familiar for the marketplace"... well, all I gotta say is: Stranger Things is over with after season 4 (the Duffer Brothers have stated as much) and It unequivocally ends with Chapter Two.
So... what agencies/company wouldn't want to have "the next Stranger Things / It"?
