They told me what they were all about and gave me a red star stress ball.
Anyhow, I am thinking of joining.
Now, I thought you just joined and used the site to promote your script... Not exactly.
I guess you join ($80 a year, not bad, all things considered), then you can view what scripts get sold to what studios and what writers sign with what agents, etc.
So, basically, you get up to the minute news, which is beneficial, I suppose.
Now, normally I wouldn't lend this much credence, but Twitch Film (a website I get a lot of my movie news from) reported that Tracking Board broke the news of Jason Eisner's (Hobo With A Shotgun) new movie.
Anyhow, so... after you pay your $80 and get unlimited access to inside Hollywood news, then you can post on their forums and you can get coverage for your script.
Essentially, this means that experienced (so they say) readers (for agencies and studios) will read your script and determine its marketability. If it makes the grade, your script will be featured on the website as a "recommended" script and (again, so they say) studios and agents who browse the site for new writers and projects will view, consider and possibly pick you up as a client or pick up your project to produce.
Of course, this is HollyCrook, so to get coverage for your script costs more...
The "Studio Coverage" (which costs $150... $250 if you want page-by-page criticism of your script) gives you the following:
- Cover Page w/ Comments Summary
- Logline
- 1-2 page Synopsis
- Character Breakdown
- 2-3 pages of Comments
- Market Comparison List
- 12 Point Breakdown Grid
- Writer & Script Grade
Then there's the "Premium Coverage" which is $225 and gets you:
- Cover Page w/ Comments Summary
- Logline
- 1-2 page Synopsis
- Character Breakdown
- 4-5 pages of Script Analysis
- Market Analysis
- 12 Point Breakdown Grid
- Writer & Script Grade
So... I'm not seeing a whole lot more that you get for that extra $75... But who knows, that extra 2 pages of script coverage could be invaluable, I have no idea. At any rate, I have no idea if you can still buy the coverage without being a member of The Tracking Board, but since the annual fee is not that much, I figure it is worth it. If nothing else, for all the benefits it might offer.
With my coming paychecks, I fully intend to join The Tracking Board and buy a few videos on GreenLightMyMovie so that, before the end of the year, I can get my work out there.
I think I'm already off to a good start.
I spent this past summer pitching, writing and sending out queries.
That's better than I've done since 2013.
I'm finally doing enough that I feel accomplished and it looks as if I am making some headway.
