I read Curt Siodmak's autobiography (The Wolfman's Maker) back in 2004.
Why?
'Cuz I'm a dork and I have my roster of favorite screenwriters.
Not only did Siodmak write a slew of classic sci-fi/horror novels (like Donovan's Brain), but he wrote a ton of classic (Wolfman) and sequel films (Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, Son of Dracula, House of Frankenstein) for Universal.
He also wrote and directed and created my favorite horror T.V. show of all time: 13 Demon Street with Lon Chaney.
Anyhow, Siodmak wrote, in his autobiography, that Universal stuck him in a shack on the lot for an office. During the hot California summers he said he was stripped down to his undershirt while he typed in scorching heat.
I kinda feel that way now.
I've been writing the last few days and I'm on page 55 of my latest script (more than halfway done... Just at the first culmination, coming up on the "midpoint", according to the 3-act rules of screenwriting).
Anyhow, I haven't had this much fun writing in years and I can't wait to finish this script and map out my next one.
Onward...
