I also got an e-mail from Ryan from Boston.
He said he's had some good success since leaving PitchFest.
I'm a bit jealous of all these people who got follow-up e-mails.
I only got one rejection two days after PitchFest.
All my follow-ups I've had to initiate myself; no unsolicited, invitational follow-ups.
But, it was my first pitchfest, live and learn.
I know immediately some of the things I did wrong, I just need to figure out what else I did wrong that I am unaware of and what I need to do to improve.
I have strategies planned out for next year:
- prepared folders with my resume (business card stapled to it) and logline sheet (with all my loglines on it) enclosed.
- Flash drives (containing my scripts, logline sheet, resume) ready to hand out to those are really serious
- More hard copies of my scripts (though I only handed out one this year)
- Only pitch lower-budget projects to studios
- Save my higher budgeted projects (like Flatdog) to agencies (they don't care about budget, they just want to sign you and sell your script to someone who'll make it)
- Really study the shit out of that Executive Directory and make sure your action plan is airtight...
