It began when the school librarian, at the school where I teach, gave me a Hemingway bust I'd been yearning for for some time.
I then bought the pictured Poe bust off eBay for $50 (shipping included).
Well, the seller shipped via UPS (who are, in my experience, notorious butchers of packages) and (I presume) simply dropped the item off at UPS and asked them to package and send it off.
Well, the bust was chipped to begins with, but it arrived even more chipped and decapitated (which I think Poe would have appreciated).
I glued Poe's head back on with Gorilla Glue and bought some dark green acrylic paint from Blick Art Supplies in the Loop... Anyhow, I think you'll agree that the Poe bust came along rather nicely.
It looks nearly untouched and unblemished (sure, weathered by age, but not abused and manhandled as it had been).
Thought I'd share with everyone my before and after photos.
Soon I think I'll touch up a few rough spots on my Hemingway bust with the same paint.
And soon I should have a Lovecraft bust (that I ordered back in September... each bust is made to order) from the following studio:

And I think that about does it for my author bust obsession...
