A few things...
One, I finally checked out a link sent to me by my old college buddy Molly. She clued me into this amazing device:

I am most definitely going to pre-order this thing.
Now, when she sent me the link, I didn't know what it was.
I actually thought it was an app that replicates the sounds a typewriter makes while you're writing on your computer.
So... it got me thinking, "I wonder if there is such an app?"
And there is.

I'm actually using it now as I type this.
It's strange, but it's things like these that inspire writers to write.
Charles Bukowski once wrote a whole poem about how he'd switched to using a computer to write and gave his old typewriter to his wife... but that, once in a while, he snuck into her office (or room, I can't remember) and used the old typewriter... And I agree.
That's why I bought that old Remington from Jones Typewriter Co. a few weeks ago.
Now, today I had every intention of starting a new short story (which I already have outlined). I have my Tolstoy candle (from Paddywax) out and it is perfect writing (and sleeping... both activities solicit dreams, incidentally) weather in St. Louis right now: a dark and stormy night.
However, I dropped the ball.
I came home from running errands, got distracted and fell asleep reading on my couch.
However, tomorrow I will hit the ground running; I have nothing planned and need to dedicate the entire day to writing and submitting.
I cannot let summer break go to waste...
