Their letter said, "Since we do receive a lot of scripts we do not send rejection notices or provide script notes. If you do not hear from us three months from the date you send your script, you can query us about the submission by email only to..."
Okay...
So I waited the required length of time...
Then I sent an e-mail to the address they gave me on October 25th.
I received a response back today (November 1st)... a week later.
Their letter ran thus, "I checked in on your script with the manager who reviewed it. Unfortunately it was a pass for us.
Best of luck"Now, this befuddles me on two counts: 1.) I checked out their website before submitting my script (when they requested it) to see if they're legit... they are, but the only film of note that they seem to have had a hand in was The Cooler (that Vegas drama with Maria Bello, William H. Macy and Alex Baldwin) and 2.) They seem to like weird, sexual psycho-dramas (The Cooler was one of the films talked about in that movie This Film Is Not Yet Rated, due to its explicit sexual content) and that's exactly what my latest script it.
Seems it would be a perfect fit.
Just further reinforcement that this is a gigantic boy's club I'm up against and they really don't want any more mouths at the table, crying for a bite.
And, much as when I began interviewing for my first teaching job, no one wants to give me my first shot; everyone wants me to have experience before they let me work for them. What a sad catch-22... how am I going to get experience, when no one will give me my first shot.
But, alas, I trudge on as only one as determined (foolish?) as I can...
